Navy JROTC cadets tour Grissom

  • Published
A group of Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps cadets from Proviso East High School in Maywood, Ill., recently visited Grissom to gain a better understanding of day-to-day military operations and life.

The group, led by retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. Tom Lisowski, first toured a Marine Reserve facility here, where they were able to talk with Marines from Detachment 1, Communications Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group.

After learning about Marine Corps communications and lire, the cadets then got their chance to board a KC-135R Stratotanker from the Air Force Reserve's 434th Air Refueling Wing. During the aircraft tour, cadets learned about aerial refueling and the Air Force from 434th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron personnel.
