    Over two dozen civilian support staff from the 434th Air Refueling Wing received an incentive flight June 25, to allow them to see firsthand how they support the mission. Employees from Grissom’s lodging and dining facilities, outdoor recreation and fitness center were joined by members of the Miami Correctional Facility K9 unit on a refueling exercise.

    With more than 200 career fields, the 434th Air Refueling Wing is constantly looking for innovative ways to pitch opportunities to potential recruits and the wing’s commander recently stepped up to the mound to do just that. At an Indianapolis Indian’s game June 25, Col. Larry Shaw, 434 ARW commander, threw the first pitch to help reform recruiting efforts and encourage innovative recruiting practices throughout the Hoosier State.

    As a Civil Engineering Squadron Water and Fuels System technician, Staff Sgt. James Burton has seen some interesting things. Including watching his Air Force career or wash away when he decided to separate from the military several years ago. Burton is a plumber at Grissom; a job he’s been doing since he enlisted a little over nine years ago.
  • Grissom locks in C-5M Super Galaxy for 2019 Air Show

    A C-5M Super Galaxy is scheduled to perform September 7-8th at the 2019 Grissom Air and Space Expo. With a wing span of 222 feet, length of 247 feet and height of 65 feet, the C-5M is a strategic transport aircraft and is one of the largest aircrafts in the Air Force’s inventory.
  • Grissom maintainer earns a spot at Air Force Academy

    Three men of the Blue family share two things in common: they each have the first name Kenneth and each share a proud history of military service. However, only one of them is a son of Grissom and is headed to the Air Force Academy. For now, Kenneth Blue III is an aircraft guidance and controls technician with the 434th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.

    Marking its 11th year in 2019, Yellow Ribbon began following a congressional mandate for the Department of Defense to assist Reservists and National Guard members in maintaining resiliency as they transition between their military and civilian roles. Master Sgt. Jarred Gentile was recently selected as the new 434th Air Refueling Wing Yellow Ribbon representative.
