  • 434th ARW tanker and crew support Ft. Wayne air show

    It’s often said that practice makes perfect, and if that’s the case the 434th Air Refueling Wing is leaning in the right direction as it moves closer the Grissom Air & Space Expo, supporting another air show along the way. Two KC-135 Stratotanker’s and 15 Airmen from the 434th ARW participated in the 122nd Fighter Wing air show in Fort Wayne, Indiana, June 8-9.
  • FSS welcomes new operations chief

    The 434th Force Support Squadron recently welcomed Lt. Col Eric Kase as its newest operations officer. Kase comes to Grissom from Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado where he served as the 302nd Airlift Wing’s FSS commander.

    June 6 marks the 75th Anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy, France, or D-Day, and for the 434th -- our predecessors were there.

    Col. Gregory Pinnell, 434th Aerospace Medicine Squadron commander, accepted the guidon and command of the 434th AMDS during a change of command ceremony here June 1.
  • Senator Mike Braun makes first visit to Grissom

    Sen. Mike Braun and key members of his staff met with 434th Air Refueling Wing leadership and toured the base to gain first-hand knowledge of Indiana’s only Air Force Reserve unit and stand-alone Air Force installation.

For those who are planning what is easily one of the biggest events to come to Grissom in more than 16 years, it might seem as though the calendar is hurtling toward that weekend.
  • Grissom hosts national police week event

    In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. As in years past, Grissom recently commemorated the week by hosting its own police week event here.
  • Grissom Key Spouses recognized for service to families

    Serving the families of those who serve, the 434th Air Refueling Wing’s Key Spouse program consists of 26 volunteer spouses. During an awards recognition event at Grissom, May 4, 2019, those volunteers were recognized for their selfless service and their commitment to helping families of deployed service members.
  • Teamwork and readiness highlighted during May commander’s call

    Col. Larry Shaw, 434th Air Refueling Wing commander, hosted a commander's call during the unit training assembly, May 4, 2019. During the all-call, Shaw stressed the importance of teamwork and readiness during what’s expected to be a busy summer for Grissom.
