The 434th Aerospace Medicine Squadron welcomed their new commander during an assumption of command ceremony here, October 15, 2023.

Lt. Col. Jennifer Fong assumed the command. Fong is a Reserve dental officer who previously served with the 926th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

Col. Summer Fields, commander of the 434th Air Refueling Wing, welcomed Fong into the Grissom family before passing her the guideon.

“She truly cares for the people,” Fields said. “This is evident in how she wants to help them and what she can do to further their careers and recognition. I am really excited to see how she will shape the squadron with that vision.”

In her first speech as the new commander, Fong expressed her excitement about the future of the squadron.

“I’m really looking forward to getting to know y’all and learn about the mission here,” Fong said. “I do want to emphasize the word learn, because we must be a learning organization, especially to flex and adapt to today’s ever-changing environment.”

Fong also expressed her gratitude towards the service men and women under her leadership.

“Thank you for being here,” Fong said. “Thank you for putting on the uniform and taking time away from your families and for answering our nation’s call. The events of the past week remind us that our national security is not something to be taken for granted. The Air Force’s key priorities of ready now and transforming for the future are imperative.”

Looking to the future, Fong says she is honored and excited to serve as the squadron’s new commander.

“I’m here to support you and to execute the mission,” Fong said. “We have a lot of work to do. Let’s get after it.”
