The weather wasn’t the only thing spooky around Grissom on Oct. 31.

More than a dozen runners from around the base showed up to participate in the Halloween 5K, hosted by Airman & Family Readiness.

Runners were encouraged to dress in costume, and many did!

Stacey Pennington, Grissom’s community readiness consultant, gave out prizes to everyone who participated, as well as pumpkins for the top runners in different categories.

“We’re looking at ways to expand participation in Grissom activities,” said Tech. Sgt. Daniel Huff, 434th Force Support Squadron readiness technician. “Part of that is doing things like this to make 5K runs more fun and engaging.”

Finishing in first place was Dustin Fulkerson, 434th FSS exercise physiologist, who completed the 5k in 23:20. Behind him were Marty Foye, 434th Air Refueling Wing financial services officer, and Senior Master Sgt. Jeff Withrow, 434th ARW command post superintendent.

“Everyone who came out today did amazing, everyone finished and we’re very grateful to our runners for helping make this a success,” said Huff.

Grissom’s next 5K run event will be the Turkey Trot at noon on November 14, 2018.
