    Grissom bids farewell to Col. Larry Shaw

    The familiar whistle that breaks the silence in the hallways of Grissom’s headquarters will now be a tune heard by memory. That whistle, Col. Larry Shaw’s trademark pre-cursor to his energetic entrance, will reverberate here no longer. Shaw retired as commander of the 434th Air Refueling Wing March 13, in a ceremony during the unit training assembly.
  • The Grissom Airman and Family Readiness Center is accepting donations for their annual food drive until the Saturday of the December unit training assembly.

    Team Grissom kicks off holiday donation drive

    Grissom’s Airman and Family Readiness Center is accepting donations for its annual food drive until the Saturday of the November unit training assembly. Donation boxes will be in every building throughout the base.

    Grissom legal office looking for new team members

    Providing legal assistance to every wing member is no easy feat and the 434th Judge Advocate General Corps is looking for a few new faces to help keep things running smoothly. The mission of the JAG office is to provide 434th Air Refueling Wing leadership and Airmen with legal support. The office is currently in search of Airmen to help fill paralegal roles within the unit.

    434th Mission Support Group welcomes Wiltse as new leader

    Col. Gretchen Wiltse assumed command of the 434th Mission Support Group during a ceremony here, July. 9, marking her first unit training assembly as the unit’s new commander. Wiltse proudly accepted the group’s guidon from Col. Scott Russell, who led the group since 2014.

    Grissom defender earns high security forces honor

     Being committed to a job well done and going above and beyond the call of duty is a key component of leadership. For some it takes practice. For others like Staff Sgt. Lance Buechler, it comes naturally and has earned him command-level recognition.

    Save the date: 434th ARW to host annual awards banquet

    It is almost that time of year when the wing gathers to honor Grissom Airmen who exhibit core values and go above and beyond through their commitment to duty. Nominees, along with family friends and Airmen, are invited to celebrate at the base dining facility during this year’s annual awards banquet.

    Military personnel flight takes top honors in door decorating contest

    The holidays are in full swing with the countdown to Christmas underway. Members of the 434th Air Refueling Wing were in the holiday spirit, celebrating the weekend with squadron holiday parties and a festive meal at the dining facility.
  • Detachment One, Communication Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 45, 4th Marine Logistics Group at Grissom Air Reserve Base, Ind., needs donations for its annual Toys for Tots campaign no later than Dec. 15, 2013.     Grissom Marines kick off Toys for Tots drive

    For over 70 years, the Marine Corps Reserve has worked to make the holidays a little brighter with its Toys for Tots program. Marines from Detachment One, Communication Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 45, 4th Marine Logistics Group, are leading the charge here on base, for the campaign that kicked off October 1.

    Resiliency takes center stage during October UTA

    After a busy year at Grissom, wing leadership dedicated the October unit training assembly as family weekend. Col. Larry Shaw, 434th Air Refueling Wing commander, hailed it as a weekend to throttle back and take a break after a year packed with inspections, deployments and an air show.

  • Grissom security forces hosts IRS training cadre

    The Hoosier Wing has a reputation for being a good neighbor to the local community. A key component of that reputation lies in the mutual aid agreements the base has with local law enforcement and first responding agencies.
