For those who are planning what is easily one of the biggest events to come to Grissom in more than 16 years, it might seem as though the calendar is hurtling toward that weekend.
  • Grissom hosts national police week event

    In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. As in years past, Grissom recently commemorated the week by hosting its own police week event here.
  • Grissom Key Spouses recognized for service to families

    Serving the families of those who serve, the 434th Air Refueling Wing’s Key Spouse program consists of 26 volunteer spouses. During an awards recognition event at Grissom, May 4, 2019, those volunteers were recognized for their selfless service and their commitment to helping families of deployed service members.

    Col. Larry Shaw, 434th Air Refueling Wing commander, hosted a commander's call during the unit training assembly, May 4, 2019. During the all-call, Shaw stressed the importance of teamwork and readiness during what’s expected to be a busy summer for Grissom.

  • Running improvement workshop set to begin at Grissom

    Military and civilian personnel at Grissom will have a unique opportunity to take advantage of a workshop here aimed at improving their running. Dustin Fulkerson, 434th Force Support Squadron exercise physiologist, will co-host a running improvement workshop at the Grissom fitness center. The hour-long classes are scheduled Monday’s and Wednesdays at 3:15 p.m., beginning May 13, 2019, and are open to all ages
  • Practice makes perfect: Grissom honor guard holds new recruit training

    The Air Force honor guard is a distinguished presence at ceremonies that honor both the past and present. It undoubtedly takes bearing, precision and above all, practice to execute the drills and coordinated movements that are a part of storied Air Force moments.
  • Grissom recognized with tree city distinction

    Continuing in its tradition of excellence, Grissom was recently named a 2018 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation, in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management.
