Grissom celebrates Columbus Day

GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- The men and women of Grissom Air Reserve Base celebrate Columbus day, which is the annual U.S. commemoration of explorer Christopher Columbus' landing in the "New World." Columbus set sail with 90 men in August 1492 on three ships including the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. The expedition reached land on October 12, 1492. Most U.S. federal government offices close on Columbus Day, as well as many banks. (U.S. Air Force graphic/Tech. Sgt. Mark R. W. Orders-Woempner)
