GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- Lisa Maynard lifts cardboard from a recycling bin before throwing it into a compactor May 2. The cardboard will be crushed, baled and shipped away for recycling. In 2010, the base recycled more than 174 tons of material including 91 tons of scrap metal, 48 tons of cardboard, 29 tons of paper and 2 tons of used tires.
