Brehm named Senior NCO of the Quarter Published May 29, 2007 By Senior Airman Mark Orders-Woempner 434th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind -- To be a senior NCO, one must portray the highest qualities of Air Force leadership and character, but to be awarded as one of the top takes even more. One such SNCO is Senior Master Sgt. Brian Brehm, 434th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron A Flight specialist supervisor, who was presented with a 434th Air Refueling Wing SNCO of the Quarter award. The award was given to Sergeant Brehm after a panel of piers evaluated his leadership abilities, job performance, breadth of experience and significant self improvement efforts. According to Lt. Col. Stephen Whicker, 434th MXS commander, Sergeant Brehm is a superior technical expert in multiple areas. This expertise enhances the unit's ability to expeditiously repair aircraft and determine the effective course of action, he added. The sergeant has over 30 years of aircraft maintenance experience, ranging from A-10s to KC-135Rs. Because of his knowledge, he serves as one of two 434th AMXS Exercise Evaluation Team members, which assist the 434th ARW with numerous exercises to test the capabilities and situational awareness of the unit, stated Colonel Whicker in his nomination form for Sergeant Brehm. Work is not the only way the sergeant serves Grissom. He is a member for the 434th Maintenance Group Top 3, which takes up issues and concerns facing Grissom's maintainers. Sergeant Brehm is also an Ambassador in Blue, which is a group of volunteers who tour with the KC-135 flight deck display, going to schools, community events and base functions promoting the Air Force Reserve and representing the 434th ARW.
