Prior to Grissom's annual Family Appreciation Day a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the new Airman and Family readiness center on base.

Col. William T. "Tim" Cahoon, 434th Air Refueling Wing commander, Col. Betty Bowen, 434th Mission Support Group commander, and Lt. Col. Daniel Harrison, 434th Force Support Squadron commander were all present at the ceremony and spoke to the Airmen and family members attending the ceremony.

"The turnout was supportive," said Master Sgt. Nathan Moore, 434th A&FR non-commissioned officer-in-charge. "There were quite a few families that volunteered; it was a reflection of all the great people at Grissom."

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command.
