GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. --

Change of command ceremonies have a long history of allowing troops to witness the passing to the torch from one leader to another, and the 434th Maintenance Squadron followed that tradition during the February unit training assembly.

Maj. Bradley Palm assumed command of the 434th MXS during a ceremony held Feb. 7 at Grissom, a position previously held by Lt. Col. Nicole Fink.

“Colonel Fink did an amazing job leading the squadron,” said Palm. “My immediate goal is to carry that same momentum forward, but of course, a squadron is dynamic, ever-changing and evolving and we will flex to meet the goal of ensuring our Airmen are taken care of and trained so we can take care of our mission.”

Palm, who entered the Air Force in September of 2005, has held several positions within maintenance as a traditional reservist which he felt gave him the confidence to pursue a fulltime position and when this opportunity presented itself, he couldn’t pass it up.

“To have the privilege to serve as the MXS commander was exactly the opportunity I was looking for and I never hesitated accepting the role,” Palm said.

As commander of the 434th MXS, he is responsible for directing compliance actions and technical oversight for the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command.

Men and women from the Hoosier Wing routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission.
