GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. --

A B-1B Lancer is scheduled to perform September 7-8 at the 2019 Grissom Air and Space Expo.

Carrying the largest conventional payload of both guided and unguided weapons in the Air Force inventory, the multi-mission B-1 is the backbone of America's long-range bomber force. It can rapidly deliver massive quantities of precision and non-precision weapons against any adversary, anywhere in the world, at any time.

Entering service in 1986, the B-1B Lancer was designed as a strategic bomber which would combine the supersonic speed of the B-58 Hustler with the range and payload of the B-52 Stratofortress. It has since become an invaluable asset to the Air Force, and delivered over 40 percent of all munitions dropped in the first six months of Operation Enduring Freedom. Additionally, it holds almost 50 world records for speed, payload, range, and time of climb in its class.

The B-1B Lancer is just one of many attractions which will appear at the 2019 Grissom Air and Space Expo, including the Army Golden Knights and the Air Force Thunderbirds aerial demonstration teams.

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. The Citizen Airmen from the Hoosier Wing routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission.
