Grissom to host local community leaders Published Oct. 13, 2007 GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind., -- Members of the Grissom Community Council, along with other select community leaders, will receive a first-hand look at the 434th Operations Group during a special base visit and dinner on November 3. The event, hosted by Brig. Gen. Dean Despinoy, kicks off at 2:30 pm and includes tours of the KC-135R simulator, tower simulator, and air traffic control scope simulator. A demonstration of life support equipment, night vision goggles and parachute simulator will also be on the agenda. The invitation only activity will conclude with a special dinner at "Chocks" community center at 6:30 pm. Invitations for the event were mailed to community council members. RSVPs are required and can be phoned in to the Public Affairs Office at (765) 688-3348 or submitted electronically at 434arw.pa@grissom.af.mil The 434th Air Refueling Wing is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. The event on November 3 is another in a long line of outreach activities designed to increase local awareness of the wing's mission and impact.
