Grissom to celebrate Arbor Day on Friday

  • Published
To celebrate Arbor Day, officials at Grissom ARB will conduct a short ceremony on Friday at 10 a.m. in the area adjacent to the Civil Engineer Complex on Warthog Street.

In 2008, Grissom was awarded the title of "Tree City USA" by the National Arbor Day Foundation for the seventh year in a row.

During the ceremony, Col. Betty Bowen, 434th Mission Support Group commander, will read a special proclamation and then plant a tree.  The single tree is symbolic of the more than 1,600 trees that have been planted at the base during the past seven years.
