434th ARW/CV helps open Indy Indians game Published July 29, 2010 GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- Standing on the field in the July heat with thousands watching stood one man on the mound with a fuzzy, red bear behind home plate. Then, the moment came and the baseball flew right down the center into the mascot's oversized glove as the crowd applauded and cheered. This was the scene at an Indianapolis Indians baseball game July 22, where Col. Tim Cox, the 434th Air Refueling Wing's vice commander, threw out a ceremonial first pitch. Colonel Cox also got two chances to speak to the crowd, once on the field and once on the radio, where he explained the many benefits of joining the Air Force Reserve. Other Grissom Reservists also participated at various events throughout the game.
