Grissom hosts picnic, says 'thank you' to families

  • Published
Sometimes it takes more than a thank-you note to tell someone how much you appreciate them, and Grissom went well beyond that by hosting a picnic to thank families for their support.

Grissom Airmen and base personnel hosted the Grissom Family Day picnic here Sept. 11 during a unit training assembly to show their appreciation for the entire Grissom family, including spouses, children and other family members.

During the event, attendees were treated to picnic-style food including pulled pork sandwiches, bratwursts and hotdogs.

Several family-oriented events were also held including a car show, tug-of-war, sphere-racing, horseback rides and a watermelon-seed-spitting contest.

A special tent was set up just for kids, which included games, face painting and a bounce castle.

(Editor's note: This is the first in a three-part series showcasing the events of Grissom's Family Day picnic.)
