Grissom to hold mass enlistment ceremony

  • Published
On any given day the flightline at Grissom ARB is a busy place.  Aircraft maintainers race about to ensure aircraft are fixed and ready for their missions, fuel specialists load the proper amount of fuel on each aircraft, aircrew members conduct pre-flight inspection of the aircraft and supervisors ensure it all flows smoothly and safely

On Tuesday, October 12, the flightline will be busy with a different kind of activity  as the 434th Air Refueling Wing will hold a mass enlistment ceremony for new recruits.  Colonel William "Tim" Cahoon, 434th ARW Commander, will administer the oath of office.  A KC-135R Stratotanker will serve as a backdrop for the ceremony.

Each year the Air Force Reserve Command recruiting office that supports Grissom looks for creative ideas to "kick off" the new recruiting season that begins in October.  In past years, mass enlistment ceremonies have taken place at the Sears Tower in Chicago, Ill., the Grissom Air Museum, and the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Ind.
