AF leaders stress safety during the holidays

  • Published
Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz and Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James Roy issued the following holiday safety message to the Airmen of the United States Air Force:

During this holiday season, we extend our sincere appreciation for your tireless efforts in defense of our nation's freedom and for your family's many sacrifices in support of your service. Whether you are deployed, stationed overseas or living in the United States, we encourage you to celebrate with care.

Many of you will travel to see family or engage in outdoor activities over the holidays so please take the time to assess the circumstances and plan ahead, evaluate the hazards and exercise appropriate caution. Taking unnecessary risks or engaging in careless behavior can have disastrous consequences.

For many, the holidays can be a period of increased stress and uncertainty. If you find yourself in need of assistance, please ask for help. Additionally, be a proactive wingman and respond appropriately when you identify a member of the Air Force family in need. Your involvement will help build a stronger, more resilient and safer Air Force.

Again, we thank you and your family for your service and commitment to the Air Force, and wish you the very best for the holidays and the New Year.
