    Brig. Gen. Allan Swartzmiller, Headquarters AFRC inspector general, recently sent out a survey designed to provide an overview of the bases current climate in an effort to identify deficiencies and improve any issues that might arise before the bases upcoming unit effectiveness inspection.

    Without pilots the 434th Air Refueling Wing would be known as the static display wing. A dip in the number of pilots Air Force-wide has units hustling to fill vacancies. Grissom is among those increasing recruiting initiates to keep the cockpits filled and in the 434th ARW’s case the fuel flowing.

  • Explosively effective: EOD opens fire on new training range

    With jet engines, heavy construction equipment and a firing range, loud noises are not uncommon at Grissom but a recent addition to the base might also be making the windows rattle. The unit recently opened its new high explosive training facility with an introductory first fire.

  • Senator's staffers visit Grissom units

    Grissom had the opportunity to break new ground in a sense, as staffers from Sen. Mike Braun’s office came to visit and learn more about what happens on base.

  • GFD adds valuable training tool

    Grissom Fire Department has a valuable new training too called a forcible entry training door, used to practice knocking down doors and gaining entry as quickly and efficiently as possible-.
