GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind.—Runners from around Grissom gathered on a rainy, overcast day to participate in a fun-run 5K.

Around a dozen runners and walkers showed up to participate in the fall 5K, which took place September 28, 2016, on base.

“It’s good to see members come in and run for fun, especially on a rainy day like today was,” stated Zachery Holmes, 434th Force Support Squadron recreation assistant. “It was great to have the weather clear up enough that we still had people show up.”

The 5K started at the gym, winding around Grissom’s off road running area and ended back at the gym facility. Walkers started at 11:45 a.m. while the runners started at noon.

“Everyone seemed to be in good spirits and that’s great to see,” said Holmes.

Holmes said that he hopes to have even more people at the event next year as word spreads from the people who enjoyed it this year.

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. Men and women from the Hoosier Wing routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission.
