Grissom’s annual non-perishable food drive is currently underway and the Airman and Family Readiness Center is urging everyone to donate.

All food that is donated will be given to the families of Airmen who are in need of extra help during the holiday season.

Jill Marconi-Pyclik, 434th Airman and Family Readiness Center director, said the annual food drive is about the Grissom community coming together to help each other.

“Many of the units and base personnel come together to help gather donations for the food drive every year,” said Marconi-Pyclik. “It’s such a blessing to see people coming in with bags of stuff. That’s what Grissom does; One Team, One Fight. We are very good about taking care of our own people and this is a great example of that.”

The most popular donations include peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, cereal, pasta and canned fruits and vegetables.

The food drive will end on the Friday before the December UTA with the food being distributed on that Sunday.

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. Men and women from the Hoosier Wing routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission.
