MANAS AIR BASE, Kyrgyzstan -- Col. Douglas McHugh (second from the left), normally the commander of the 434th Mission Support Group at Grissom ARB, Ind., assumed command of the 376th Expeditionary Mission Support Group at Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan. As part of his command duties, Colonel McHugh will be responsible for the Manas AB Village Partnership Program which teams each group commander with a local mayor from one of the surrounding villages to assist with humanitarian projects. This program builds a strong foundation for cooperation between the Air Force and the local community leaders. Project work includes general clean-up as well as repairing heating systems, flooring, plumbing, walls, playgrounds and windows at various civic facilities and schools. Members use their own funds to purchase supplies and material for the various projects.
