Doug Hays 434 ARW/PA GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- The Grissom Air Reserve Base Fire Department responded to 138 calls for assistance during the fourth quarter of 2006 as part of a mutual aid agreement with the local communities. Those responses included 117 medical responses, 15 vehicle incident, four fire or alarm activations and two hazardous materials incidents. Grissom is the home of the 434th Air Refueling Wing, the largest refueling unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. While the primary mission of the Grissom Fire Department is to provide protection and coverage for base personnel and resources, the firemen and first responders are able to provide additional support to the local community through mutual aid arrangements.
