Air Force Reserve Master Sgt. Christy Bartel was named Grissom's Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter for the first quarter.

Sergeant Bartel is a logistics management specialist with the 434th Maintenance Operations Flight and has nearly 20 years of military service.

As a logistics management specialist, she plays a role in the movement of personnel and cargo.

"It is my job to ensure that everyone has the necessary training and equipment when they go on deployments," she said. "If they do not have the required training then I notify the individual and their supervisor so that it can be completed before the deployment date arrives."

The Kokomo resident joined the Air Force Reserve after four years of active duty service.

During those four years she completed her bachelors of Science degree in psychology at Indiana University at Kokomo.

Sergeant Bartel is an air reserve technician at Grissom and performs the same duties during the week as she does during the unit training assemblies.

She was elected Senior NCO of the quarter based on her outstanding leadership and management skills.

During a recent deployment to Guam she managed several manpower issues, while at the same time staying involved with various base committees.
