Doug Hays 434th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- The Grissom Air Reserve Base Fire Department responded to 195 calls for assistance during the first quarter of 2007 as part of a mutual aid agreement with the local communities. Those responses included 168 medical responses, 17 vehicle incidents, and 10 fire or alarm responses. Grissom is the home of the 434th Air Refueling Wing, the largest refueling unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. While the primary mission of the Grissom Fire Department is to provide protection and coverage for base personnel and resources, the firemen and first responders are able to provide additional support to the local community through mutual aid arrangements.
