Peru resident is newest 434th ARW member Published May 16, 2007 By Senior Airman Mark Orders-Woempner 434th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- Airman First Class Thomas Lennon Jr., of Peru, Ind., is the newest member of the 434th Air Refueling Wing. Airman Lennon graduated from Basic Military Training March 16 at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. There trainees are put through a rigorous regiment of physical, emotional and mental challenges that give them the skills necessary to succeed in today's Air Force. During the six weeks of training, he and other trainees of his flight studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies. The trainees also performed drill and ceremony marches and received physical training, rifle marksmanship training, field training exercise and special training in human relations. Airmen who complete basic training earn college credits which can be put towards a Community College of the Air Force associates degree. After graduation, Airman Lennon began training at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., where he is currently assigned to the 361st Training Squadron, training to be an aircraft metals technology specialist. As an aircraft metals technology specialist, he will inspect, machine, weld and repair aircraft parts and components, allowing for the Air Force fleet to stay current and ready at a moment's notice. Before leaving, Airman Lennon was a full time student at Indiana University-Kokomo and was working towards a business degree, and a sales associate at Max Pitts Yamaha/Suzuki in Peru. He is the son of Master Sgt. Tom and Avis Lennon of Peru.
