Green named Airman of the Quarter Published May 25, 2007 By Senior Airman Mark Orders-Woempner 434th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind -- Honoring Airmen for exceptional service has been a long standing tradition at Grissom. The latest Airman to be awarded for his outstanding performance is Senior Airman Edward Green, 434th Services Squadron services journeyman, who was name Airman of the Quarter for the second quarter. The award was given to Airman Green after a panel of NCOs evaluated his leadership abilities, job performance, breadth of experience and significant self improvement efforts. "(He) demonstrates a strong desire to excel in all mission requirements by demonstrating superior performance and responsibility, said Maj. John Dwyer, 434th SVS commander, in his nomination form for Airman Green. "(He) demonstrates a high degree of leadership skill while accepting responsibility without hesitation or complaint." Airman Green started his military career in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he spent 12 years. After that, he joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve. "I was shocked," he said of being selected. "I didn't even know I had been submitted. I'm honored that anyone would think of submitting me." Airman Green is currently working on a bachelor's degree in sports management and exercise science from Indiana University. He currently holds a business foundations certificate from IU's Kelley School of Business and a certificate in personal physical training from IU.
