Numerous organizations to attend Military Retiree Appreciation Day

GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind --  A number of organizations that provide services and benefits to military retirees will be at Grissom as part of the Military Retiree Appreciation Day activities on Friday, August 24. 

The event, which includes free food, an information fair, and other special surprises, will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Picnic Pavilions adjacent to the new lodging complex at Grissom ARB. 

"We were pleased at the response to our Military Retiree Appreciation Day," said Lt. Col. Gary Lockard, chief of public affairs. "To have this many military retiree related organizations in one place to help answer questions and provide information is notable." 

Scheduled to be in attendance are representatives from the Veterans Administration, Tricare, Delta Dental, Air Force Association, Navy League, Marine Corps League, Grissom Community Council, Miami-Cass-Howard Veterans Service Officers, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Grissom Air Museum, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. 

Local Grissom agencies will include Pass & ID, 434th Services Flight, and the Military Personnel Flight. 

"The Military Retiree Appreciation Day isn't just about business related matters," added Colonel Lockard. "It's also an opportunity for people to come together, meet some of their old friends, socialize and swap a few stories." 

The appreciation day is the first major activity hosted by the new Retiree Information Office at Grissom. Base official explained the day is for all Military Retirees regarding of branch of service.
