Frier promoted to master sergeant Published Feb. 8, 2008 GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind -- Air Force Reservist James R. Frier, Jr., of Lafayette, Ind., was promoted to the rank of master sergeant. He is the son of Marquita Armes, and stepson of Frank Armes, both of Lafayette. Sergeant Frier is the noncommissioned officer in charge of the 434th Air Refueling Wing administrative staff. He has been a member of the Air Force Reserve Command for seven years and has a total of 17 years of military service. In his role as the NCOIC, he works directly for the 434th ARW commander and wing executive officer. He is responsible for a variety of items including personnel documents, schedules, correspondence, and special events. Sergeant Frier is a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School in Lafayette and later earned a degree from Park College in St. Louis, Mo. In his civilian occupation, he is an employee with the United States Postal Service as well as the owner of NACJAM Interior Blinds, Inc. He and his wife Debra reside in Lafayette, Ind.
