New AFRC commander has Grissom roots

Lt. Gen. Charles E. Stenner, Jr., the new commander of the Air Force Reserve, has a distinguished military career which included leadership positions at Grissom in the 1980s and 1990s.

General Stenner assumed command of the Air Force Reserve and its 68,000 members on June 24. He succeeded Lt. Gen. John A. Bradley, who held the post since 2004.

The General's first assignment at Grissom was from August 1981 to May 1987.  He was the operations officer for the 45th Tactical Fighter Squadron, a unit that flew the A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft.

His second leadership assignment at Grissom was from November 1992 to July 1994 when he served as commander of the 930th Operations Group.
