Like a the well-oiled machines they work on, Grissom Maintainers throttled AMDS 52-10 to power their way to the 2019 intramural basketball tournament title.

The two teams played twice in the double-elimination tournament with the 434th Maintenance Group team winning both games to claim the title – their second title in a row.

Grissom’s annual tournament is broken up over several unit training assemblies with teams tipping off to earn bragging rights and trophies.

“It looks like our maintainers play basketball as well as they take care of our aircraft,” joked Col. Larry Shaw, 434th Air Refueling Wing commander. “These intramural tournaments are a great way to build morale and camaraderie.”

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. The Citizen Airmen from the Hoosier Wing routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission.
