Today is Flag Day

  • Published
Today is Flag Day and citizens throughout the country are proudly displaying the American flag. The history of Flag Day can be traced to June 14, 1777 when the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution adapting the original American Flag. President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation in 1916 that officially established June 14 as Flag Day. National Flag Day was established by an act of Congress in 1949.

At Grissom ARB, flag raising and lowering ceremonies are conducted each day. The flag is raised at 8 a.m. and lowered at 4:30 p.m.
