Honorary commanders visit Grissom today

  • Published
Grissom's honorary commanders will pay a special visit to the base today to participate in an interactive tour of the 434th Operations Group. Col. Chris Amend, 434th Operations Group commander, will serve as the host for the visit and tour.

There are seven honorary commanders at Grissom representing the 434th Air Refueling Wing, 434th Operations Group, 434th Maintenance Group, 434th Mission Support Group, 434th ARW Command Chief, U.S. Army Reserve and U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

During today's visit the honorary commanders will tour various areas to include air traffic control facilities and the KC-135 flight simulator.

A select number of civic, community and business leaders are chosen each year to participate in Grissom's Honorary Commanders program.  The goal is to provide the Honorary Commanders with a first-hand look at Grissom, its mission, and organizations.

Other activities planned for the Honorary Commanders later in the year include an Arbor Day tree planting ceremony, and tours of the 434th Mission Support Group, 434th Maintenance Group, U.S. Army Reserve Center and the Marine Corps Reserve Center as well as a KC-135 Stratotanker civic leader flight.
