A fire broke out on Hangar 200 just outside of Grissom Air Reserve Base in the Grissom Aeroplex at approximately 5:10 p.m. today.

The fire was off base, and local emergency responders, including the Grissom Fire Department, responded. At this time, the fire has been contained and no military assets are in danger.

Hangar 200 was turned over to the Miami County Economic Development Authority in 1994 after Grissom was realigned as an Air Reserve Base.

Recently, the hangar was being renovated by the MCEDA in conjunction with a Texas-based aircraft painting company.

Please direct all questions to Jim Tidd, MCEDA executive director, at (765) 469-4201.
