Holiday spirit was in the air as Grissom came together with family and friends to celebrate.

The 434th Air Refueling Wing hosted a Christmas party during the December unit training assembly in Dock 1, which was decorated from top to bottom with holiday décor.

Throughout the fun-filled event celebrants enjoyed a variety of activities including cookie decorating, reindeer prancing, gingerbread house making and present wrapping contests.

Santa Claus even made a special appearance, taking requests from children and adults alike, and guests were also surprised by an elf flash-mob dance by select Grissom personnel.

Perhaps one of the more heartwarming events revolved around a Christmas tree decorating contest, where Airmen put their decorating abilities to the test and then donated the trees to families in need.

Grissom is not only home to the 434th ARW, the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command, but also three Army Reserve units and a Marine Corps Reserve Communications detachment.

Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines routinely deploy from Grissom around the world in support of the Department of Defense mission and U.S. strategic objectives.
