Grissom aircrews were recently captured fueling the fight.

Aircrew and aircraft from the 434th Air Refueling Wing at Grissom were recently photographed refueling a U.S. Navy EA-6B Prowler assigned to the Patriots of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 140, embarked aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), during a mission over Southwest Asia.

The KC-135R Stratotanker flown by the Grissom reservists was outfitted with a special refueling drogue, allowing it to refuel the Navy aircraft. 434th ARW KC-135s are capable of refueling most aircraft in the Air Force inventory as well as many Navy and other Allied aircraft.

The 434th ARW reservists were deployed to the region in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower was deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility, promoting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions as part of OEF.

Grissom is home to the largest KC-135 unit in the Air Force Reserve Command, and 434th ARW Airmen routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission and U.S. strategic objectives.
