GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- With the holiday season right around the corner, the 434th Air Refueling Wing kicked off the festivities with a special meal.
Members of the 434th Force Support Squadron served a Thanksgiving meal during lunch here, Nov. 3.
The services flight prepared approximately 100 pounds of turkey for Grissom Airmen.
In addition to traditional side dishes, the meal also included choices of meatloaf and chicken, for those who preferred something different.
“Airmen are used to us serving the same typical meal so during, Thanksgiving and Christmas season, we have a chance to serve a really good meal for them to enjoy during the holiday season,” said Tech. Sgt. Tramona Huxley, 434th FSS dining facility manager, whose favorite holiday food is sweet potatoes.
According to Huxley, they prepared food in anticipation of 600 diners.
One of those diners, Senior Airman Jody Niemantsverdriet, 434th Civil Engineer Squadron water and fuels system helper, plans to spend time with his family during Thanksgiving and his favorite holiday food is cranberry jelly.
“It’s great to have this awesome holiday food,” said Niemantsverdriet. “It definitely gives us a sense that Grissom cares.”
