“Hope.”
“Be Brave.”
“Believe in yourself.”

Scattered around base, in trees and on the ground are approximately 60 rocks painted with words of similar sentiment.

Spearheaded by Christy Shives, 434th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center violence prevention integrator, the kindness rock campaign is aimed to spread simple positive sentiments around base.

“If Airmen see them around base and they like it and it speaks to them, they are encouraged to keep them for themselves, or pay it forward and give it to someone else,” Shives said.

Shives, who placed the rocks around base the Friday prior to the May unit training assembly, said the campaign is simply about making connections and increasing Airmen morale. Shives plans to continue the kindness rock campaign and encourages Airmen to take a few minutes out of their UTA and paint a rock to pass on the positivity.

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. The Citizen Airmen from the Hoosier Wing routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission.
