Grissom families enjoy Christmas celebration

GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. --  Grissom held a Christmas celebration to show support to family members of our Airmen at Grissom Air Reserve Base, Ind., Dec. 2.

The Airman and Family Readiness Center transformed Dock 1 into a Christmas Wonderland complete with Santa and his workshop for families to get photos, a table full of toys for children, hot cocoa and stations to decorate cookies and Christmas tree ornaments.

Jill Marconi-Pyclik, 434th Airman and Family Readiness Center director, said the event was geared towards family members to show appreciation for support they provide Airmen.

“We do this for the families,” said Marconi-Pyclik. “We like to remind them they are part of the team, and that their support means a lot to our Airmen.”

During the event Marconi-Pyclik said she was happy with the turnout and how much fun everyone was having.

“It’s going very well,” said Marconi-Pyclik while looking around the dock at all the families laughing and children playing. “All the kids I’ve talked to have said how much fun it is and how cool it is that we put on this event for them.”

Attendees were laughing and smiling whether decorating cookies or talking to Santa. Gina Ransom, one of the spouses who attended, said it was nice that Grissom put on such a large event.

“This is a really cute event,” said Ransom. “We are really enjoying it. This is the third year I’ve come to the Christmas party and it’s always so much fun.”

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. Men and women from the Hoosier Wing routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission.
