Sen. Coats sends visitor to Grissom Published June 3, 2016 By Senior Airman Dakota Bergl 434th ARW Public Affairs GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- Jon Kenworthy, a legislative correspondent for Sen. Dan Coats, met with Grissom Airmen, soldiers, Marines and leadership during a tour of the base April 28, 2016.Kenworthy was visiting the base in order to gain a better understanding of the wing’s capabilities and importance.Kenworthy, a former soldier, empathized with the members of the 316th Psychological Operations Company when he learned about the difficulties they were having with funding.“It was nice to be visited by a former soldier, someone who knows what we are going through,” said Mark Hutchins, 316th Psyop Co. unit administrator. “He knows the jargon and he understands that what we do is important.”After meeting with members of 316th Psyop Co. and the Marines, Kenworthy had the opportunity to try out Grissom’s state of the art KC-135 flight simulator and boom operator weapon system trainer.Finally Kenworthy met with Karen Lank, 622nd Civil Engineering Group Contingency Equipment Management Facility supervisor, to discuss the changes the CEMF is undergoing and how the facility helps the Air Force Reserve Command reduce costs and keep track of CE inventory.“After seeing how well we were doing total force started their own CEMF operation using ours as an example,” said Lank.The CEMF is in the process of moving from their current location to a new a location on base that will allow them to include new facilities.“We are trying to set up a care and cleaning facility for AFRC CE fire equipment,” said Lank. “Being able to clean the fire gear ourselves would mean that AFRC wouldn’t have to hire a contractor for the job.”The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command.
