The face of Grissom is getting a makeover this month.

Grissom's home page is transitions to an updated 5.0 version of the operating system.

"We are being bedazzled a little but under the surface is the same quality information people rely on," said Doug Hays 434th Air Refueling Wing deputy chief of public affairs.

Grissom's website has existed for almost 20 years and is due for a change. The new site will have an updated appearance and improved functionality to keep Grissom's online presence current into the future.

"The new website will be easier to navigate and have a more modern feel," said Tech. Sgt. Benjamin Mota, 434th ARW public affairs noncommissioned officer in charge. "Our site has been overdue for an update and we are excited about the changes."
Modernizing the website will help to increase visibility and extend Grissom's reach in the community.

"Our webpage is the face of Grissom for those that don't know us, and a spotlight that shines on the tremendous things our wing and team does in support of our vital mission," said Col. Doug Schwartz, 434th ARW commander. "Our public affairs staff works very hard to provide fresh information in a timely manner through stories, photos and graphics to tell our story."

The re-designed site will make updating and posting to the website easier. It will also allow for easier integration of different types of media not supported by the current site.

"The new site will really help public affairs," said Mota. "It gives us the ability to easily select what content we want on our site, and it lets us import news stories directly from other bases that are relevant to Grissom."

The new website will also include an integrated social media feed which will make it easier for Grissom personnel to stay in touch with what is happening around the base.
As with any transition there is a chance for hiccups, Hays said, however the site will be closely monitored so that they can be dealt with as they arise.

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. Airmen and aircraft from the 434th ARW routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission and U.S. strategic objectives.
