Fourth AF commander to visit Grissom Published April 11, 2014 By Tech. Sgt. Mark R. W. Orders-Woempner 434th ARW Public Affairs GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- Brig. Gen. John C. Flournoy Jr., 4th Air Force commander, along with Chief Master Sgt. Brian Wong, 4th AF command chief, will visit Grissom tomorrow. Flournoy took command of 4th AF in November 2013, and has been visiting units under his command ever since. "This is the general's first visit to our base, and I am sure he'll be as impressed with the wing as I am, said Col. Bryan Reinhart, 434th Air Refueling Wing commander. "We truly have amazing people who do amazing things each and every day, and this visit will allow us to showcase that to the general." During his four-day visit here, Flournoy will meet with senior leadership, chiefs, first sergeants and junior Airmen as well as civic leaders and congressional staffers. He will also have the opportunity to fly on a KC-135RÂ Stratotanker aerial refueling mission with Grissom's aviators on Monday. Wong said the purpose of the visit is to allow Grissom to highlight areas within the wing and to bring to the foreground any issues with which either Flournoy or he can help. "The basic objective of the visit is to meet folks, hear and see issues first-hand, and identify opportunities and challenges affecting wing mission readiness," the chief elaborated. The 434th ARW, the largest KC-135 unit in the Air Force Reserve Command, reports directly to 4th Air Force, one of the command's three numbered air forces.
