Douglas Hays 434th ARW Public Affairs GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- Eleven runners laced up their shoes and hit the trail for an 8K St. Patrick's Day fun run here March 18. Kelly Strader, wife of Timothy Strader, 434th Civil Engineer Squadron noncommissioned officer of equipment, was the fastest with a time of 35:06. Timothy finished second with a time of 40:23. "We had a good turnout," said Bruce Cannady, 434th Force Support Squadron recreation and fitness specialist. This run, an 8K, was approximately five miles long. Runners ran along the running trail on the west side of the base for one complete three-mile lap and then ran to the one-mile marker and back. "The winner was really moving," Cannady said. "Her husband was in second place and nearly five minutes behind her." "We have these runs to promote fitness and have fun doing it," he said. "To see a good turnout like this shows that people at Grissom are dedicated to living healthy, active life-styles." The next run on the schedule is an Easter egg 5K fun run scheduled for April 15. "We'll throw in some twists and surprises for this run," he added. "We'll insert some obstacles and challenges along the running route to mix it up and make things fun."
