GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- Grissom welcomed the Air Force Reserve Senior Enlisted Council to the Hoosier Wing June 24-25, where they met to discuss the status of Reserve Airmen and how to keep improving the force.
The Command Chiefs for the Air Force Reserve, 4th, 10th and 22nd Numbered Air Forces, and the Chiefs’ Group met to discuss updates in their areas of responsibility, ensuring they are setting the correct direction and policies for 54,000 reserve enlisted personnel across the command.
“What this team is primarily charged to do is to take care of our 54,000 enlisted Airmen,” said Command Chief Master Sgt. Israel Nuñez, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of Air Force Reserve and Command Chief Master Sgt. of Air Force Reserve Command. “Making sure we are all rowing in the same direction and having fruitful conversations about the direction of the Airmen, not just for today, but for 2025 and beyond.”
Some of their discussions centered on optimizing the enlisted promotion process, unchanged since 1948, as well as potentially centralizing the non-Extended Active Duty Deserving Airman Commissioning Board, providing more transparency and access to the program.
“This visit also gave us an opportunity to highlight the stand-alone units in the Reserve organization,” said Command Chief Master Sgt. Noel Price, 434th Air Refueling Wing command chief. “We get to showcase and highlight our capabilities as a force while also contributing to the improvement of the command.”
This is the first time Grissom has hosted the RSEC meeting. The chiefs toured the base, speaking with members from the 434th Civil Engineering Squadron and the 434th Logistics Readiness Squadron to better understand day-to-day operations and training initiatives to make informed policy decisions.
Touring the base allowed the RSEC to gain a better understanding of the roles Airmen play in the overall mission of the Air Force Reserve and provided a different prospective to further build on their goal of taking care of Airman.
