Lt. Col. Gina Stramaglio assumed command of the 74th Air Refueling Squadron during a ceremony at Gus Grissom Hall on Oct. 16, 2022.

Col. Douglas Perry, 434th Operations Group commander, presided over the assumption of command welcoming Stramaglio to the unit.

“Trying to get the right person for this job at the right time is not easy,” said Perry. “But, with the long list of accomplishments that Lieutenant Colonel Stramaglio has under her belt and the great character that she brings to this squadron, I know she is going to hit the ground running.”

Stramaglio showed her thanks to family, leadership and praised her new squadron.

“I have so many people to thank today,” Stramaglio said. “I can go on forever giving thanks to the people that have been by my side throughout my journey.”

The members of the 74th ARS operate throughout the United States and around the world in carrying out the aerial refueling mission. The 74th ARS is one of two KC-135 squadrons assigned to the 434th Air Refueling Wing and consists of highly qualified, combat ready aircrews.

“It’s an honor and privilege to serve alongside our Airmen and they are some of the best people I have ever known,” said Stramaglio. “I can’t wait to serve with you all in the 74th and I will do my best to work hard and earn your trust.”

The 434th ARW is the largest <a href="http://www.af.mil/AboutUs/FactSheets/Display/tabid/224/Article/104524/kc-135-stratotanker.aspx">KC-135R Stratotanker</a> unit in the <a href="http://www.afrc.af.mil/">Air Force Reserve Command</a>.
