Sgt Mark Brewer of Monticello, Ind., was recently honored as the 434th Air Refueling Wing Non Commissioned Officer of The Quarter. Sergeant Brewer is an Aerospace propulsion specialist with the 434th Maintenance Squadron here and has more than 15 years of service with the Air Force. "I was very excited when I found out that I was nominated for the award", said Sergeant Brewer. "Being recognized as an outstanding NCO not only makes an image for me but also everyone I work with", he said. "I am only one spoke of the wheel and all of us are needed in order to make the wheel spin". He believes that his leadership skills were an essential part of being nominated for the award but daily tasks such as being on time, and following orders are also a key element of a good NCO, said Sergeant Brewer. The 434th is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. Personnel and aircraft from the wing routinely deploy around the world in support of various Air Force missions. Sergeant Brewer insures that the jet engines of the KC-135R Stratotanker are in operational condition and maintains the performance on the engines. His responsibilities are an important element in keeping the aircraft operational. He is a 1986 graduate from Iroquois West High School located in Iroquois, Ill and received his associates degree in automotive technology from Parkland College in Parkland, Ind. In his civilian occupation Sergeant Brewer works as an Air Reserve Technician at Grissom Air Reserve Base.
