Moore named Senior NCO of the Quarter Published Aug. 6, 2007 By Senior Airman Chris Bolen 434th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs Office GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind., -- Senior Master Sgt. Robert Moore of Muncie, Ind., was recently named the 434th Air Refueling Wing's Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter. Sergeant Moore is the superintendent of fuels, and has more than 18 years of combined military service. He is responsible for all aspects of the fuel processing and storage to support Grissom's KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft. The award is given on a quarterly basis to service members who demonstrate exceptional expertise, professionalism, and advanced skills in their jobs, while supporting the mission at Grissom and the Air Force Reserve Command. Sergeant Moore has previously been named Grissom's NCO of the Quarter three times. This time however the award came in recognition of his performance during what he regards as his most challenging TDY. In January he deployed to Afghanistan and served as fuels manager, 455th Air Expeditionary Wing. "I was deployed to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, supervising active duty and reserve personnel from Shaw, Scott, Dover, and Charleston, Air Force Bases," he explained. Among his notable achievements was the development of a long term fuel facility plan at Bagram. This included the restructuring of the fuel storage areas and equipment. "Dealing with civilian supply contractors and doing it on what is actually an Army air base added to the challenge," he said. "It's a great honor being recognized for my efforts, but it's not just me, it's the personnel in the flight there and the team effort being recognized because we did an outstanding job at Bagram," he added.
