Sherrod named NCO of the Quarter Published May 22, 2007 By Tech. Sgt. Doug Hays 434th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind -- Air Force Reserve Tech. Sgt. Paul Sherrod of DeKalb Ill., was recently honored as the 434th Air Refueling Wing Non Commissioned Officer of the Quarter. Sergeant Sherrod is an inflight refueling technician with the 74th Air Refueling Squadron. He performs inflight refueling and controls airspace and receivers around the KC-135R Stratotanker. In addition, he assists the pilots with all clearances and aircraft systems and performs actual contacts and boom control during the air refueling. Sergeant Sherrod has more than 20 years of military service. The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. Personnel and aircraft from the wing routinely deploy around the world in support of various Air Force missions. He competed against other NCOs assigned to the 434th ARW and was selected as the winner by a board of Senior Noncommissioned Officers.
