Honorary commanders visit maintainers Published Aug. 19, 2011 GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- Three of the 434th Air Refueling Wing's honorary commanders got a firsthand look at the 434th Maintenance Group Aug. 19 during a visit to the base. John Gilpin of Wabash, Ind., honorary 434th ARW commander; Anita Harden of Indianapolis, honorary 434th MXG commander; and John Stackhouse of Peru, Ind., honorary 434th ARW command chief, got a special behind-the-scenes look at the 434th MXG and some of the group's back shops. Their tour stops included aircraft refurbishment, aerospace ground equipment, metals technology, non-destructive inspection and sheet metal shops. The honorary commanders' tour is part of the 434th ARW community outreach program. The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command.
